What counts as good news
A story qualifies if something improved, someone helped, a problem got solved, or a thing worth celebrating happened. It has to be true and specific. Vague uplift does not make the cut.
What stays out
Politics and partisan framing. Stories that use tragedy as a hook. Sponsored content dressed as news. Miracle health claims. Anything I cannot trace to a named source.
Sourcing
Every story links to the original publisher, and I credit them by name. I summarize in my own words and add my own context. I quote sparingly and only with attribution. Full articles stay with the people who reported them.
How I use AI
The Morning Brief is written by AI each morning. It picks from stories by named publishers that passed my filters, and it publishes without a manual review. It only uses facts from those stories and links to each one. If it gets something wrong, I correct it. Features and Editor's picks are written and checked by me.
Corrections
If I get something wrong, I fix it at the top of the post with the date and what changed. Email contact@thebrightpaper.com to report an error.
Ads and money
Ads are labeled and kept separate from editorial. Advertisers never influence which stories run or how I describe them.
